SesquicentennialHistorical Society to display garments, business artifactsPosted: 6/8/04 The Houston County Historical Society has been creating many new displays for the Caledonia Sesquicentennial weekend, June 10-13. At least twelve beautiful gowns from different periods will be on display in the main museum and Sheldon Presbyterian Church. The gowns on view are from several Caledonia families; Brimeyer, Belden, Gaspard, Flynn, Bouquet, Krueger, Kinstad/Burtness, Dunbar and Kranz/Blexrud. Materials range from silk, wool and velvet through satin. One group will be in a Victorian parlor setting. The parlor set (loveseat, matching chair and footstool) is a recent donation from Jim Curry of Caledonia. A large showcase of Caledonia business memorabilia has been set up and there will be albums of photographs to view. The Society is holding a Cemetery Walk in evergreen Cemetery on Saturday, June 12 from 4-7 p.m .and Sunday, June 13 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. An old fashioned ice cream social will be held on the fairgrounds in the dining hall from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday. Both are fund raisers for the museum addition building fund.
