John Dale Erbe

John Dale Erbe, 79, of Lime Springs, IA and formerly of New Albin, IA died Sunday, March 7, 2004 at his home.

He was born September 4, 1924, in Osage, IA to John and Mabel (Wherry) Erbe. Dale is a 1938 graduate of Osage High School. On June 2, 1956, he married Geneva Marie Adams at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Willow Springs, MO. Dale and Geneva farmed in Mitchell, IA for many years. After their retirement from farming, they moved to New Albin in 1981 where Dale operated a bait shop for over ten years. On February 27, 2001, Geneva preceded Dale in death. Dale then moved to Lime Springs where he has lived for the last couple years. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include one daughter, Marie (Robert) Morterud, Bayfield, CO; three sons, John (Jolene), Chester, IA, Jim (Diane), New Albin and Joe, Frederika, IA; five grandchildren; two sisters, Avis Kurtz, Pomona, MO, and Norma (Rex) Gilmore, Sacramento, CA; one brother, Don Erbe, Riceville, IA; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Dale was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be Friday, March 12, at 11 a.m. from the New Albin Townhouse and Chapel, New Albin. Rev. William Reese will officiate and burial will be in St. Josephís Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the New Albin Townhouse and Chapel on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. and on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia is in charge of arrangements.
