Students celebrate Snow Dayz

Posted: 3/9/04

Caledonia High School's Student Council celebrated Snow Week on March 1-5.

According to student council advisor Sue Link, it is held to break up the monotony of winter. Each day students wear different outfits to show their spirit.

An equal number of students and staff select four guys and four girls from each grade to represent their class as a Snow Dayz Prince or Princess. The students are selected for their leadership skills, and willingness to participate in front of an audience.

The Snow Dayz court consists of the following students.

ï Freshmen: Erik Fisch, Drew Hammell, Zach Rollins, Kaleb Schmitz, Kelly Bauer, Lynn Bauer, Ashley King, Emily Welscher.

ï Sophomores: Meggan Buttell, Rachel Ellenz, Laura Ranzenberger, Brenda Welscher, Allen Bauer, Sam Gerardy, Karl Klug, Tyler Schulte.

ï Juniors: Bob Burmester, Justin Conway, Phillip Guillien, Nick Rollins, Kayla Connor, Cortney Lager, Brianna Polus, Emily Schmitz.

ï Seniors: Lindsey Bartelson, Laura Bauer, Aimee Fisch, Carrie Meiners, Isaac Goetzinger, Ted Hanson, Chris Meyer, Kevin Klinski.

The week started with a kick off in the auditorium where the classes started their competition. Throughout the week the court receives points for dressing up for each day.

In addition, the entire grade that dressed up the most received points at the kick off. The events at the kick off included a fashion show, tug of war, ìGuess that Teacherî contest, food eating contest (find the chocolate in the whipped cream pie), and karaoke contest.

Each grade received points for the contests at the kick off.

The student council also is sponsoring a book drive in which each book that is donated receives a point for that grade.

Read Across America

The student council also had a ìreading awarenessî day on Tuesday morning for 45 minutes to promote reading in our school. Every student and staff member brought in appropriate reading material (novels, magazines, newspapers) to read for pleasure.

It was also the 100th Birthday of Dr. Seuss, so bookmarks with a Dr. Seuss type of poem were also handed out to the students. The student council project this month is a book drive. Books will be donated to our school library or to other organizations. They collected 745 books.
