Posted: 5/13/04 Vicki L. WilkesVicki L. Wilkes, 42, of Caledonia, MN died on Tuesday, May 11, 2004 at the Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born on January 20, 1962 in La Crosse, WI to Francis and Theresa (Hafner) Wilkes. Vicki graduated from La Crescent High school and then moved to Caledonia. She was employed at ABC Works, Whitney Hall at UW-L and Petco. She was president of People First of Houston County - Self Advocacy Group. Vicki will always be remembered for her independent nature, her strong work ethic and her uncanny ability to get her point across. She took great pride in the fact that she owned her own home and enjoyed the yard work and her flower gardens. Vickiís love of pets, especially her dog, Milo, and cat, Spice Girl, was one of her greatest joys. Vicki was especially fond and proud of all her nieces and nephews. Her favorite pastimes were working puzzles, computer games and chatting on the phone. Vickiís keen sense of humor, her genuine care and concern for others, her cheerful attitude and friendly smile will be greatly missed by all those who were fortunate enough to know her and call her friend. Vicki is survived by her mother Theresa; sisters, Lucy Wilkes, Caledonia, Rosann (Ken) Klutzke, Roseville, Jean Wilkes, Tampa, FL, Judy (Gene) Davis, Waterloo, WI, Mary (Mike) Harris, Arkdale, WI, Betty (Ed) Schiefelbein, Hastings, Sue Sloan, Frisco, TX, Joan (Dan) Meiners, Sun Prairie, WI, and Kathy (Tim) Kruse, Caledonia; a brother, Charles (Andrea) Wilkes, Bethesda, MD; 11 nieces; and 11 nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother Joseph. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 15, at St. Peterís Catholic Church in Hokah. Rev. Paul J. Breza will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crescent on Friday from 6-8 p.m., where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. and again at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
