Farrel Skifton

Farrel Catherine Skifton, 89, of Caledonia, MN, died on Sunday May 16, 2004. She died peacefully after a short illness at The Lutheran Home, Caledonia.

She was born June 6, 1914 in Caledonia to Henry and Mary (Schiltz) Palen. She married Julius Skifton November 29, 1932 in Caledonia. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1978. Farrel was a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church and its Council of Catholic Women, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Elizabethís Society, the ěGrannies Bandî and Caledonia Senior Citizens.

She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and many friends and relatives.

Farrel is survived by her 14 children: Lois OíHeron, Eleanor (Stanley) Engen, Darrel (Susan) Skifton, and Cindy (Mike) Schuldt all of Caledonia, Kathleen Storlie, Mabel, Norma (Ray) Gehrke and Annette (Darwyn) Durhman, both of Rochester, Jerry (Cheryl) Skifton and Ronnie (Sylvia) Skifton, both of Houston, Rita (Joe) Anderson, Marshfield, WI, Janie (Gary) Sanden, Hokah, Sonia (David) McCabe, Chatfield, Pam Runningen (special friend Jerry Salomonsen), La Crosse, WI, June (Ron) Hawley, Winona, and faithful cat, Orchid. She is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 51 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Julius, she was preceded in death by two sons-in-law, Patrick OíHeron and Melbourne Storlie, a sister, Martha Schmitz, a brother Matthew Palen, and two grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, May 19, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at Holy Family Hall, St. Maryís School, 308 East South Street, Caledonia, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call from 11:15 until noon at the church Wednesday before the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Maryís Church Refurbishing Fund, St. Maryís School, or Calvary Cemetery.

McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
