Obert Staven

Obert Elvin Staven, 76, of Spring Grove, MN, died Friday, May 21, 2004 at his home. He was born December 23, 1927 in Black Hammer Township, rural Spring Grove, to Olaf and Olga (Otterness) Staven.

Obert was a lifelong Spring Grove area resident and attended rural school in Black Hammer Township.

On July 30, 1949, he married Ardes Amunrud, at the Black Hammer Parsonage in Spring Grove. They were married by Rev. Borg-Breen. They farmed in rural Black Hammer; Obert was later a cabinetmaker until his retirement. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer.

He enjoyed going to his boathouse and fishing, he also enjoyed waterskiing, gardening, and woodworking.

He is survived by his wife Ardes of Spring Grove; two sons, Donald (Joelet), Rochester; and Mark (Melba), Caledonia; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Herbert (Mardelle) Staven, Spring Grove; one sister, Irene Treangen, Spring Grove.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Cornelius, and his son Bruce.

Services will be Monday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Black Hammer, rural Spring Grove. Pastor Leonard Liptack will officiate. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Spring Grove. Friends called from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove, and friends may call one hour prior to services at the church today.
