Caledonia man ticketed for fleeing officers

Posted: 5/25/04

A Caledonia man was issued a citation on May 18 in Caledonia for domestic disturbance and obstructing the legal process.

According to Caledonia police officer Jim Stemperís report, James Schutte of 304 North Sprague had a dispute that night with a woman, who called 9-1-1.

Schutte then tried to evade Stemper and Houston County Sheriffís Deputy John Kulas. ìSchutte saw me, then he hid in one of the cattle pens at the NFO building ankle deep in cow crap,î Stemper wrote in his report. ìDeputy Kulas flushed him out of the pen and he took off running across the front parking lot of Caledonia Haulers.î

Stemper wrote that the citation for obstructing justice came from ìmaking myself and Kulas round him up like cattle.î

In another May 18 incident, Chris McKenney of 804 South Pine, Caledonia, was issued a ticket for driving after suspension of license and no insurance.

Both men will appear in Houston County Court in Caledonia on the charges on June 21 at 8:30.
