Hanna Thiele

Hanna A. Thiele, 97, formerly of Eitzen, MN, died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, at the Caledonia Lutheran home where she had been a resident since December of 1998. She was born December 30, 1906, on her home farm in rural Eitzen, to Henry and Alvina (Meyer) Staggemeyer. On February 2, 1924, Hanna married John Thiele at St. Lukeís Church in Eitzen. Together they farmed in rural Eitzen until their retirement from farming in 1954. John and Hanna then moved into Eitzen where she worked at the Eitzen telephone switchboard and at the Eitzen Locker. On May 13, 1973, John preceded Hanna in death. Hanna was a member of St. Lukeís United Church of Christ in Eitzen. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and playing cards.

Survivors include one daughter, Fern Westerhouse, Faribault; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Thiele, Eitzen; 10 grandchildren; one granddaughter-in-law; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Hanna was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Harriet Thiele, Betty Thiele, and Joan Kordsiemon; two sons, Fred and Dean Thiele; one grandson, John Westerhouse; two sons-in-law, Robert Westerhouse and Bill Kordsiemon; one daughter-in-law, Joann Thiele; one brother, Louis Staggemeyer, and three sisters, Ella Spellmeyer, Alma Fruechte and Lillie Schoh.

Services will be Friday, May 7, 11 a.m., at St. Lukeís United Church of Christ, Eitzen with Rev. Lane Zaffke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
