Ruth Zeiner

Ruth L. Zeiner, 78, of Waterloo, IA, and formerly of New Albin, IA, died Monday, May 3, at the Western Home in Cedar Falls, IA. Ruth was born in New Albin on July 11, 1925 to Ernest and Ruth (Thompson) Irons. In 1943 she worked at the Lansing Toy Company. Following that, she worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing in Waterloo for 43 years, retiring in 1987.

Ruth was a great fan of baseball and girls softball. She also enjoyed traveling in her motorhome.

She is survived by nine siblings: Ben (Elsie) Irons, Lansing, IA, Laura Karczewski, Chicago, IL, Wayne (Mary) Irons, Davenport, IA, Robert Irons, Waukon, IA, Barbara Mellen, Prairie du Chien, WI, Marjorie Haar, Oelwein, IA, Beverly (Loren) Smiley, Kewanee, WI, Lorna (Milton) Strong, La Crosse, WI, Karen (Jason) Styrwoll, Warroad, MN; many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, John, Homer and Louis Irons and a sister, Dorothy Brooks.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 7, at The Grace United Methodist Church in New Albin with Pastor Keith Putney officiating. Burial will be in New Albin Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services.

The Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home in Lansing is assisting the family.
