Meyer guilty of kidnapping

A jury in Allamakee County, Iowa, has found Justin Meyer guilty of first degree kidnapping. The verdict was announced at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Meyer,24, was accused of abducting his former girlfriend and their child from their home in Caledonia on December 8, 2003, and taking them to his parents' home in New Albin, Iowa, where he sexually assaulted the woman.

Meyer also faces two charges of second degree murder in Houston County, Minnesota, in connection with the death of Mark Sullivan, 24. Meyer is accused of shooting Sullivan before kidnapping the woman and child. He will be extradited to Minnesota after he is sentenced for the kidnapping.
