Telmer Pieper
Telmer Martin Pieper, 82, died Thursday, November 11, 2004.
He was born November 20, 1921, in Caledonia to Otto and Levi (Roble) Pieper. Telmer was raised in rural Caledonia and was baptized and confirmed at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church. He attended Caledonia elementary and high schools.
On July 22, 1945, he married Fern Michelson.
Telmer served in the U.S. Air Force for two years. After returning to Caledonia, he entered the plumbing business, working first with Harold Schulze and later as owner of Pieper Plumbing and Heating. He continued working in the business, giving advice, and devising gadgets to fix unsolvable problems into his 80s.
He was a member of St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, Caledonia, where he taught Sunday School and was on the church council for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Fern; their three sons, Gerald (Mary) and Len (Robin), both of Caledonia; and Lyle (Paula) of Le Center; a brother, Don (Carol) of La Crosse; and a sister, Bernice Klein of La Crescent; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Jamie; a brother, Gerhard; a sister-in-law, Rose; and a brother-in-law, Walter Klein.
Funeral services with military honors will be Saturday, November 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, Caledonia. The Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. As per Telmerís request, his body will be cremated with burial in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Johnís Evangelical Lutheran Church, Caledonia Care and Rehab, or a charity of the donorís choice.
