Burglars strike Caledonia, Spring Grove

Burglars visited two locations in Caledonia the night of Wednesday, November 17.

One occurred at the maintenance building at the Houston County Fairgrounds. Craig Welsh reported it after finding a paddlelock cut on the door.

Tools valued at about $800 were taken, including a socket set, hand grinder, torch, Skill saw, and Husqvarna chain saw.

The other burglary that night occurred at S & S Car Wash at 614 Esch Drive.

An employee reported that someone broke into the office and stole about $250 from a desk drawer. The burglar found keys to vending machines and took about $250 from them. A Nikon Cool Pix digital camera was also taken.

Someone broke into a trailer behind the business that night and shot a fire extinguisher into it.

Caledonia Police Chief Duane St. Mary said he thinks the two burglaries are related. Anyone with information on them can call the police department at 507-725-3889.

Spring Grove burglary

A burglary was also reported in Spring Grove on November 11 by occupants of an apartment at 105 Fourth Avenue NW. ìMagic the Gatheringî playing cards and tool boxes valued at between $2,500 and $3,000 were stolen. Information on this burglary can be reported to the Spring Grove Police Department at 507-498-2677, extension 104.
