Charles J. Bissen
Charles J. Bissen, 83, of Fort Pierce, FL, died on October 28, 2004.
He was born in Brownsville, the son of Michael and Irma Harer Bissen.
After returning from the service he played two years professional baseball under contract with the Minneapolis Millers.
He lived in Sanford, FL for 16 years where he was employed in the fresh firuit citrus packing business. In 1963 he moved to Fort Pierce, where he worked in the citrus industry as a grove production manager until his retirement in 1991.
Charles served with the U.S. Army during WWII in North Africa and Europe. He was a life time member of the V F W Post 1 0554 in Fort Pierce, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Fort Pierce, where he also was a member of the softball team for 26 consecutive years. He was also an avid fisherman.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Elma R. Bissen of Fort Pierce; daughters, Regina Johnson of Houston, TX, Bonnie Ludlow of Morrison, CO, Terry Bissen of Orlando, FL, and Charlene Dahlberg of Eustis, FL; two grandsons; brother, Edward Bissen of Eau Claire, WI; and sister, Margie Rohrer of Brownsville.
