Rushford man arrested after damaging
property in Caledonia
A Rushford man faces five different criminal charges after an October 22 driving incident in Caledonia.
Christopher Berge, 19, was arrested that night after his vehicle became stuck at the city baseball fields in Caledonia.
The vehicle had twice struck a fence that goes around the ball field, and the air bags had been activated.
Berge was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol, driving after revocation, and two counts of third degree driving under the influence.
Timothy Murphy, the Caledonia city attorney who will prosecute the case for the city, also anticipates a felony charge for damage to property, according to court documents.
Berge was to appear in court on November 9 on at 11 a.m. His unconditional bond is set at $12,000. After his arrest, he was taken to a detox center in Rochester. He was in the Houston County jail as of November 8.
Job trailer theft arrest
A Houston man has been charged in the theft of a job trailer on September 16.
Nathan Karl Holter, 37, faces charges of felony theft and receiving stolen property in the incident. Conviction carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in jail and/or a $20,000 fine.
Holter allegedly took a trailer valued at $1,500 from a farmyard in Houston. It held 24 aluminum planks and stands valued at $6,000.
Kenneth Johnston, who reported the theft, located the trailer at Holterís house on Fort Ridgley Road on September 17. Houston County deputies confirmed that the trailer was there and brought the complaint to Houston County attorney Richard Jackson, who filed charges on October 14.
Holter, who was released on his own recognizance, will appear in court again on December 15 at 9 a.m. His attorney is Gregory Schultz of Caledonia.
