No county flu vaccines

The Houston County Public Health Department has announced that it has no flu vaccine and will likely not have any during the upcoming flu season.

The vaccine supplier ordered flu vaccine from Chiron. Chiron will not be shipping vaccine, and the department is unable to obtain vaccine from another source.

Local clinics all have flu vaccine available. If you are in need of a flu vaccination this year, please contact your clinic.

The MN Dept. of Health recommends flu shots for the following:

ï People 65 years of age or older

ï People living in nursing homes or other long term care facilities

ï People with chronic health problems (consult MD)

ï Pregnant women

ï Children and teenagers who take aspirin on a regular basis

ï Infants 6 to 23 months of age

ï Health care workers who provide direct patient care

ï People who live in same household with children under 6 months of age or who provide care to children under six months of age outside the home.

If you have any questions, please contact Houston County Public Health (507) 725-5810 or your local health care provider.
