Three juveniles charged in gun theft
Three Caledonia juveniles have been charged with second and third degree burglary and theft of firearms.
Two boys, ages 15 and 13, and one girl, age 15, were charged in juvenile court in Houston County before Judge James Fabian on October 6.
Their next court appearance has not been set, assistant Houston County Attorney Sue Harnack said on October 6.
According to a police report by Caledonia Police Officer Jim Logan, the youths drove off from a La Crescent gas station in La Crescent on October 1. The attendant reported that the vehicle was going north on Highway 14/61.
A check of the vehicle identified it as one that had been stolen from a residence in Caledonia.
The vehicle was pursued into Goodhue County, where Logan made the arrest. The three suspects were taken into custody by the Zumbrota Police Department.
In the car were two shotguns, one rifle, one .357 magnum pistol, and one air gun.
The youths told Logan that they were going to sell the guns in order to run away.
Goodhue County assistant attorney Dave Grove would not release any information on the case to The Argus, citing data privacy laws.
The youths were each charged in Houston County with burglary in the second degree, a felony; burglary in the third degree, a felony; and four separate theft of a firearm charges, each of which is a felony.
Each youth was also charged with one count of misdemeanor theft for the theft of a gun case.
The youths have been released to their parents, and are on electronic monitors as a condition of their release.
