Boys soccer

Defense, defense.

That could be the call of the Caledonia boys soccer team after three more shutouts last week.

They won all three home games by impressive scores, 8-0 over Plainview on October 4, 4-0 over Coulee Christian of West Salem, Wisconsin, on October 5, and 5-0 over Byron on October 7.

Football

Caledonia surged from a one point deficit in the second quarter to beat Chatfield 33-13 in football on October 8.

The Homecoming game was played on a beautiful fall night, and the fans had plenty to cheer about.

Girls soccer

The CHS girlsí soccer team is hoping for another trip to the state meet, and the way they play in coming week will determine whether that will materialize.

At a seeding meeting Sunday, the girls ended up in the number three spot, with Lourdes in first and La Crescent in second. The first round of section play is Thursday, but Caledonia has a bye for that game and will meet the winner of Thursdayís Farmington-Lake City game in Caledonia on Saturday at 3 p.m. Section play continues on Tuesday, October 19, and finals are Thursday, October 21.

ìIf we play with confidence and play wisely, we have a good chance,î said Coach Link.

In their second to the last game, the girls met Kasson-Mantorville at home on Saturday. Brianna Polus made all three goals
