Stolen vehicles recovered
Two vehicles that were stolen earlier in September in Caledonia have been recovered.
A 1999 Chevrolet Malibu stolen from the Ardell Lien home at 619 East Main Street on September 6 was recovered later that day about 500 yards off County Road 32. It had extensive damage.
No arrests have been made in the theft, Caledonia Police Chief Duane St. Mary said on September 17, although he said there is a suspect.
Another theft, this time a 1994 Chevrolet S-10 pickup belonging to Keith Comstock took place a day later at his business at 150 Bissen Street. It was recovered in West Salem, Wisconsin, on September 15.
St. Mary thinks this theft is tied to the recovery of a stolen vehicle from the West Salem area on September 12. Randy Bearbower discovered the 1989 red Toyota in heavy undergrowth on his property at 1123 East Main Street, Caledonia. Police discovered that it had been stolen from Rebecca Thorgerson of Viola, Wisconsin, which is near West Salem. No arrests have been made in this theft either.
In other city police news:
ï Marcel Nigel Coker, 26, of Rochester, was arrested in the June Kjome place on September 15 after police and medical personnel responded to a woman who was vomiting and complaining of stomach pains.
Officer Jim Stemper found Coker in the womanís room, and told him that he was not supposed to be in the building, which is a transitional housing for abused women. Stemper found that Coker had an outstanding warrant in Olmsted County for failing to appear at an arraignment on March 8, 2004. Coker was booked in the Houston County Jail for the night, then transported to Rochester.
ï Skunks have been a nuisance at some Caledonia residences lately. Animal control officer Mike Gavin disposed of a skunk at the Suzanne Welch home at 124 East High Street on September 13. Then three skunks were discovered at the Paul Gensmer home at 515 North Kingston. Officer Jim Stemper was able to shoot one with his 22 caliber pistol. The other two got away.
