Kathleen Roerkohl
Kathleen M. Roerkohl, 91, of Caledonia, died Thursday, September 23, 2004, at The Bethel Home, Viroqua, WI.
She was born October 20, 1912, in Hanover Township, Dorchester, Iowa to Thomas and Bridget (McKenna) Byrnes. She married Bernard Roerkohl June 9, 1938 at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Hanover, IA. They farmed in the Dorchester area until 1956 and moved to Caledonia where they farmed until Bernardsís death September 2, 1989. Kathleen resided on the farm until recently.
She was a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia and its Council of Catholic Women and the Homemakers Club. She enjoyed playing cards and had a great love for her family.
She is survived by a son, Donald (Katherine) Roerkohl of Poplar Grove, IL; 3 daughters, Marlene (Charles) Norman of Readstown, WI; Donna Hyde of Santee, CA; Genevieve (Richard) Haynie of El Cajon, CA; 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Schulte and Betty (Walter) Hammell, both of Caledonia.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Cavanaugh and 5 brothers, Thomas, Canice, Cyril, Joe, and John Byrnes.
Mass of Christian will be Saturday, September 25, at 10:30 am at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 am Saturday morning at he church. Memorials may be given to St. Maryís Church.
McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
