Polus jury trial set, omnibus hearing requested
A trial date for Wayne Alan Polus, La Crescent, has been set for December 16 and 17.
Polus, 48, is charged with third degree criminal sexual conduct. He has pled not guilty.
His court-appointed attorney, James Schultz of Houston, did request an omnibus hearing.
Third degree criminal sexual conduct is a felony that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison and/or $30,000 fine.
Polus, 48, is free on $20,000 unconditional bond. He allegedly assaulted a woman while she was sleeping on a couch at his parentsí home, where he resides, early on the morning of August 29.
A pretrial hearing will be held on October 20. At the pretrial hearing, lawyers try to resolve the case if possible. They also talk about the length of the trial, file the witness list, and discuss any other issues that might come up.
