Justin Meyer trial rescheduled again

The trial date for Justin Meyer has been moved again. The New Albin man accused of murder will be tried on Monday, October 25.

The trial was to start on Monday, September 13 at Allamakee County District Court in Waukon, Iowa. It was rescheduled on August 30 because of scheduling conflicts, Bob Brammer, a spokesman for the Iowa Attorney Generalís office, said. The trial had also been set for March 17 and then June 3.

Meyer is now in the Fayette County Jail in Wet Union Iowa. Prior to that he had been in the Dubuque County Jail. Meyer, who is from New Albin, Iowa, is charged in Iowa with kidnapping his former girlfriend and their child from their home in Caledonia on December 8. That charge is tied to the death of Mark Sullivan of Caledonia, who Meyer allegedly shot and killed before kidnapping the woman and the child. After the Iowa trial, Meyer will be extradited to Minnesota, where he faces one count of homicide and one count of attempted homicide.
