Charlotte Luella Schmidt
Charlotte Luella Schmidt, 95, of Spring Grove died Sunday, January 2, 2005 at Tweeten Health Services in Spring Grove.
She was born on Sept. 14, 1909 in Spring Grove, to Christian and Louise (Larson) Sylling.
She was a Spring Grove High School graduate.
After graduating she obtained a teaching certificate and taught in Worthington, MN, where she met her future husband Ernest Schmidt. They were married on August 25, 1936. Later she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Winona State University, she taught remedial and advanced reading in Spring Grove school for a number of years.
Ernest preceded her in death on Aug. 25, 2004. Ernest ěDocî and Charlotte were one of the founding members of MaCal Grove Country Club in Caledonia.
Charlotte was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove, and its womens groups. She was an avid bridge player.
Survivors include her son Michael (Diane) Schmidt of New Canaan, CT, and daughter Joan (Richard) Lewis of Mabel; five grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren; and a brother Al (Shirley) Sylling of Spring Grove.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Oberlin ěPepî, and Harold, and four sisters, Geneva, Lucille, Doris, and Gladys, and a granddaughter, Michelle.
Services will be held Saturday, April 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spring Grove.
Roble Funeral Service in Spring Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests memorials be given to the Spring Grove Library or Trinity Lutheran Church.
