Erwin "Erv" A. Deters
Erwin ěErvî A. Deters, 84 of Eitzen, died Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia. He was born October 3, 1920 in Eitzen to Franklin H. and Rosa (Franzen) Deters. He married Rose Marie Privet June 1, 1944 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia.
Erv farmed the family farm in Eitzen. He was a volunteer fireman in Eitzen for 16 years and he was a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus and a member of St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. He enjoyed baseball and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie of Eitzen, 6 children, LeRoy (Cathy) Deters of Muscatine, IA, Bernadette Baley of Sparta, WI, Carlene (Ken) Denton on Sparta, Rosine (Mac) Macomber of Caledonia, Jerry (Sally) Deters of Ames, IA, and Renee (Rich) Orth of New Haven, IA, 12 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 4 brothers, Roy, Fremont, Edgar and Earl (in infancy).
Mass of Christian Burial will Saturday April 9, at 10:30 am at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Hall behind St. Maryís Church, 423 South Pine St, Caledonia where a rosary led by the Knight of Columbus will be said at 8 pm. Friends may also call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the church before the service.
McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
