LaVern Privet
LaVern Joseph Privet, 82, of Caledonia died suddenly at his home on Sunday, July 31, 2005.
LaVern was born on May 26, 1923 in Caledonia to Peter and Catherine (Greisch) Privet. He married Nadine Nelson on October 9, 1951 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia.
LaVern and Nadine farmed on the family farm southwest of Caledonia before becoming resident caretakers of Loretto Heritage Haven in Caledonia for the past 20 years.
He was a member of St. Maryís Parish, Caledonia.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
LaVern is survived by one son Dwight (Sandy); five daughters, Linda (Louie) Peterson, Bev (Stan) Meyer, Lorene (Ben) Reining, Polly Betz (fiance Gary Heberlein) and Shelby (Jerry) Steele, all of the Caledonia area; 19 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, RoseMarie Deters of Eitzen and one brother, Ronald (Melba) Privet Caledonia, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nadine, grandson Anthony Reining, and a sister, Eileen Welscher.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 3, at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Hall, behind St. Maryís Church, 411 South Pine Street, Caledonia, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Wednesday.
McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
