McCauley, Jilek sentenced
A Caledonia man was sentenced on July 25 to 21 months in prison for a burglary in Caledonia in February.
LaMont Rickey McCauley, 31, was charged on February 24 with burglary in the second and third degree, receiving stolen property, and theft. He pled guilty to one count on May 4, after initially pleading not guilty on April 18.
Third District Court Judge James Fabian gave McCauley a 21 month sentence in a state correctional facility, with 14 months in custody and seven months in supervised release.
McCauley also has to reimburse Houston County $217 and pay restitution to the victim of $522.37.
He stole computer and accessories, and a Playstation from a womanís apartment sometime between February 18 and February 21.
McCauley had five Criminal History Points from multiple prior offenses, county attorney Rick Jackson said on July 29. Criminal History Points are allocated for prior offense as part of federal sentencing guidelines. The recommended sentence for McCauley was 27 months in prison, but Judge Fabian reduced it by six months.
Jilek sentenced
John Bradley ìBradî Jilek, 53, Caledonia, was sentenced in Third District Court on July 25 to five years probation after pleading guilty on June 27 to one count of theft by swindle.
He will also have to pay $1,572 in fines and do 80 hours of community work which may need someone with electrical skills.
Jilek cut two power lines going into his house at 16259 State Highway 76, and reattached them with wire nuts so that the polarity was reversed, resulting in the electric meter running backwards.
