Houston County Fair begins next week
The 2005 Houston County Fair takes place next Wednesday through Sunday, August 17-21 at the fairgrounds at 103 North Ramsey Street in Caledonia.
The theme this year is ìWhere the Good Olí Days are Now!î
Two new events this year include a wedding dress revue past and present on Saturday at 7 p.m., and an antique appraisal on Saturday from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. in the commercial building.
Another change is the block bathroom building, which has been doubled in size to accommodate two handicapped-accessible bathrooms and six showers. ìThat will be nice for the people that exhibit livestock and need to clean up. And for the vendors,î fair board president Ann Emery said on August 8.
ìWeíre still looking for contributions [for the building]î she added. ìWe got a matching grant so anything thatís donated will double.î Contact Emery at 507-725-3397 for more information.
Emery also reminded people that they donít have to be in 4-H to bring in exhibits. She encouraged people to bring in things like arts, crafts, and canning.
