Henry ìHankî Becker

Henry James ìHankî Becker, 80, of New Albin, died Friday, December 23, 2005, at Veteransí Memorial Hospital in Waukon.

He was born in Lansing, Iowa, on March 25, 1925, to Henry and Margaret (Kinney) Becker. He married Belva A. Hosch on April 8, 1947, in New Albin. Hank served in the US Navy from 1942-1946, then attended barber school in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and also attended Western Wisconsin Technical Institute in La Crosse for accounting. He operated Becker Barber Shop in New Albin and worked as an accounting clerk for Gateway Transportation, in La Crosse. He also served as New Albin City Clerk.

He was a lifelong member of VFW Post 5603.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Robert (Nancy) of Prairie du Chien, WI; a daughter Donna ìSusieî (Daniel) Meehan of Onalaska; a sister, Sr. Rita Becker of St. Rose Convent, La Crosse; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Fitzgerald of Pensacola, FL; and two brothers-in-law, Lee (Vivian) Hosch of New Albin and Don Hosch of Pensacola, FL.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Becker, and two sisters, Mary King and Margie Fink.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, at St. Josephís Church in New Albin with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial followed in St. Josephís Cemetery with military rites. Friends called at the New Albin Community Center on Monday evening.

Thornburg Funeral Home of Lansing was in charge of the arrangements.
