Robbery suspects caught

Two juveniles have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery Tuesday evening, February 15, at the Subway restaurant in Caledonia.

Caledonia Police Chief Randy Shefelbine announced on Friday that the two were apprehended in Mabel, Minnesota. WItnesses to the crime told police that there was only one person involved; Shefelbine speculated that the second juvenile may have been waiting outside while the other one robbed the restaurant. The suspect displayed a knife during the incident and told the clerk that he also had a gun. Two customers were in Subway at the time of the robbery. About $300 was taken.

Neither suspect is from the area.

The description of the suspect was that of a black male in his mid to late 20s. Shefelbine said that one of the suspects looks much older than he is, which accounts for the discrepancy.

Assisting Caledonia Police in the investigation was the Houston County Sheriff's office, the Spring Grove and Houston Police Departments and the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office.

Formal charges are pending.
