Helen A. Zarwell
Helen A. Zarwell, 91, of New Albin, Iowa died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, WI following a brief illness.
Helen was born February 9, 1914, in New Albin, IA to Reinhardt Jordan and Selma (Welper) Jordan. Helen worked diligently as a wife, mother and homemaker in New Albin throughout her life.
Helen was baptized and confirmed at St. Peterís Evangelical and Reformed Church in New Albin, and graduated from New Albin.
Helen married Herbert (Herb) Zarwell, on December 24, 1942, in St. Charles, Missouri, near where Herb was stationed in the Army Air Corps.
Helen was preceded in death by her oldest son, Neil, her parents, and all her siblings. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Herb; and by her sons Ric (Betty) of Lansing, IA and Ron (Donna) of Pontiac, Il. She is further survived by nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the New Albin Community Center from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, or at St. Peterís United Church of Christ in New Albin at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peterís with burial at the New Albin City Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon, IA is in charge of arrangements.
