John Kjome
John Arthur Kjome, 79, of Spring Grove, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse,WI.
He was born August 8, 1925, in Spring Grove, to Nels and Selma (Tyribakken) Kjome. A lifelong area resident, he attended Spring Grove High School, and then served with the United States Navy, from 1943-1945.
On April 12, 1945, he married Ione Bakke. The couple had been married for fifty nine years, at the time of Johnís death. John had worked for Hector Construction in Caledonia.
He was a commander for American Legion Post #249 of Spring Grove in 1975, and a member of the VFW post in Caledonia.
He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and Green Bay Packer fan.
Survivors include his wife lone of Spring Grove; four daughters, Carol (John) Williams, Linda (Roy) Staub, Julie (Tom) Proctor, and Sara (Howard) Krook; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one brother, Norvin (Joe) Kiome; five sisters, Ruth Lee, Manlyn (Cliff) Rasmussen, Audrey (Jerry) Ellingson, Barbara (Jerry) Brown, Beverly (Russell) Welch; one step sister, Marilyn Staupe; and many nieces and nephews.
ln addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Jerome Kjome.
Services will be held Wednesday, February 9 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove. Pastor Stephanie Frey will officiate. Military rites provided by American Legion Post #249 of Spring Grove. Burial will follow in the Trinity church cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Service in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
