Two youths arrested in vehicle theft
Two youths were arrested in Caledonia on January 2 in the theft of a vehicle.
Joshua David Goetzinger, 17, and Jamie Ann Foellmi, 16, face multiple charges from the incident.
Goetzinger faces two felony counts of motor vehicle use without consent.
Foellmi faces a felony charge of receiving stolen property.
They both pled not guilty in juvenile court before Judge James Fabian on January 10. Their next court appearance has not been set.
Goetzinger has been placed at Sheriffís Youth Ranch in Austin, Minnesota. Foellmi has been placed at Von Wald Shelter in Rochester.
According to the criminal complaint, Nancy Welscher reported that her green Voyageur van was stolen from Bonanza Grain in Caledonia sometime between 12:30 and 7 p.m. that day.
Caledonia police officers found it near Meiners Lumber. Seats from the van were lying outside. Inside it, officers found personal belongings like clothing and suitcases, and items identified as Josh Goetzingerís. This led officers to believe that Goetzinger was going to run away with the van.
Officer James Logan staked the vehicle out, while officer Gary Bubbers observed Goetzinger with Foellmi near Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Goetzinger, Foellmi, and another female juvenile drove to the stolen van, and were then arrested by Logan. The third female did not know the van was stolen and was released.
The criminal complaint states that Goetzinger confessed to stealing another vehicle earlier that day. It was left near St. Maryís Elementary School, but was found by police and returned to the owners before he could take it. He told police that he and Foellmi planned to run away.
Goetzinger also faces felony delinquency charges in a pending case in Houston County for motor vehicle theft in November 2004.
Foellmi is facing pending felony gross misdemeanor delinquency charges for obstruction of the legal process in December, 2004. Felony charges are public information for juveniles age 16 or older.
Carter sentenced
In another court matter, Timothy Allen Carter was sentenced on January 10 to 72 months in jail for first degree criminal sexual conduct that occurred on August 22, 2004 in Caledonia.
Carter had been working in a midway stand at the Houston County Fair that weekend when he met the victim downtown, and raped her after taking a walk with her.
The sentence by Judge James Fabian followed a plea agreement that Carterís attorney worked out with Houston County Attorneyís office on December 13.
