Marilyn J. St. Mary

Marilyn J. (Smevog) St. Mary, 78, of Catedonia died, with family and friends at her side, on January 14, 2005 at Tweeten-Lutheran Health Care Center in Spring Grove.

Marilyn was born in LaCrosse, WI, on September 5, 1926 to Herbert and Joyce (Worthingham) Smevog. She married Donald St. Mary on November 18, 1948 in Winona. The oldest of five children, she got an early start in her lifelong career as a caregiver. Marilyn selflessly devoted her life to the care and nurture of others - first as a sibling, then as a nurse for 42 years primarily at Caledonia Hospital, a wife for 56 years, and a mother for 54 years. After a lifetime of living to care for others she was stricken with Alzbeimerís disease.

Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband, Donald J. St. Mary, her children Jeanne (Owen) Skelly, Chicago, IL, Steven, San Jose, CA, and Sharon St. Mary (Tom Lind), St. Paul; two grandchildren; one greatgranddaughter; one brother, John (Diane) Smevog; two sisters Carol (Jack) Preeshl and Lynette (Donald) Svoboda; and nieces and nephews.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Wayne Smevog.

Memorials to the Alzheimerís Research Study at Mayo Clinic in the name of Marilyn St. Mary are preferred. There is no memorial service scheduled at this time.
