Roger C. Pohlman

Roger C. Pohlman, 57, of Caledonia, died Thursday, January 13, 2005, at his home, surrounded by his family, after a six week courageous battle with cancer.

He was born October 13, 1947 in Caledonia to Melvin and Lisbeth (Kruse) Pohlman. Roger was a decorated Vietnam War veteran serving there from January of 1967 until December of 1968.İHe was a member of the Kenneth Casey VFW Post 5603İin New Albin, Iowa.İRoger grew up on Jefferson Ridge, Houston County, Minn, where he farmed and logged. On October 5, 1969,İhe married Nancy Fitzpatrick. Roger enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and justİbeing outdoors. His greatest joy was spending time with his four grandchildren of whom he was so proud.

Survivors include Nancy Pohlman of Caledonia, and their four children, Lori (Todd) Duerwachter of La Crescent, Daniel Pohlman of Caledonia, Kelly (Mike) Thomas of Ridgeway, Minn., and Bob (Amanda) Pohlman of Caledonia; four grandchildren, Hayley and Cierra Duerwachter, Devin Thomas, and Kaytlin Pohlman; andİhis best bud, ìEmmitt.î Roger is also survived byİfour siblings, Gene (Betty) Pohlman and Lyle (Joan) Pohlman, both of Caledonia, Mavis (Marvin) Cleven of Spring Grove, and Linda (Bill) Bell of Caledonia; andİmany nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, andİfriends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Services will be Monday, January 17, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. from St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Tom Schultz will officiate. Burial with militaryİhonors will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, 518 W. Main St., Caledonia, on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.

The family would like to thank the ICU, 7th floor nurses and techs, Dr. Watkins, Dr. Merfeld, Dr. Williams, and Dr. Rushlow at Franciscan-Skemp Healthcare for all the care and support given to our dad and our family. Also a thank you to everyone else for their thoughts and prayers.
