Marlene Burtness

Marlene Marie Burtness, age 71, of Spring Grove, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2005, at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia.

She was born November 25, 1933, in Mabel, MN, to James Clifford and Mildred (Peterson) Dahl.

She was a 1951 Mabel High School graduate, and attended Winona State College for a short time.

Marlene worked in the Twin Cities before graduating from high school.

On August 16, 1952, she married Richard Burtness at First Lutheran in Mabel. They farmed in Wilmington Township until retiring and moving to Spring Grove in 2004.


Marlene was a home health aid for many years.
She was an active member of Wilmington Lutheran Church in rural Spring Grove, and its womenís groups.

She is survived by her mother, Mildred Dahl of Spring Grove, and her husband Richard, also of Spring Grove; a daughter, Nancy (David) Strike of Caledonia, and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 9, at 1 p.m. at Wilmington Lutheran Church, rural Spring Grove. Pastor Roy Satre will officiate.

Burial will be in the Wilmington Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Friends may call Saturday, January 8 from 5-7 p.m. at Roble Funeral Service in Spring Grove, and one hour prior to services at the church on Sunday.
