Mary E. McGinnis
Mary E. McGinnis, 81, of Caledonia, died Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, LaCrosse, WI.
Mary was born March 27, 1923 in Caledonia to James F. and Martha (Schmitt) McGinnis. She attended school in Caledonia and then assisted her family at home after her mother died. She worked at the Day Activity Center in Caledonia for 20 years. Mary lived with and enjoyed her foster families. They were Cyrilla Esch, Clayton and Carol Weis, Susan and George Kittleson, and for the past 15 years, Ruth Hahn and Paul and Nel Rommes, all of Caledonia. She participated in the Special Olympics and enjoyed rug weaving with the loom.
She was a member of St. Maryís Parish and its Council of Catholic Women, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
She is survived by five siblings, John (Virgiline) McGinnis of Fargo, ND; Al (Maureen) McGinnis of Winona; Bob (Shirley) McGinnis of Austin; Bill (Darlene) McGinnis of San Jose, CA; and Sister Martha Ann McGinnis of Rochester, and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dr. James McGinnis and Msgr Joseph R. McGinnis; a sister, Rita Klug; a niece, Eileen, and nephew, Mike.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2005 at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Marys Church, Caledonia. A rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters at 4:30 pm and a prayer service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Saturday morning. Memorials are preferred to St. Maryís Church Refurbishing Fund.
McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia is assisting the family with arrangements.
