Rev. Rolf Storlie
Rev.İRolf Tilman Storlie, 66, died onİWednesday, July 13, 2005 at his home in Badger Valley, (rural Houston).
He was born July 2, 1939 in Spring Grove, the son of Tilman and Gudrun (Vathing) Storlie. Rolf was baptized on August 3, 1939 by the Rev. Arnold W. Nelson and confirmed October 31, 1954, by the Rev. M.A. Braaten at the Stone Church in Houston.
In 1957 Rolf graduated from Houston High School and enrolled at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa. After completing his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1961 he entered Luther Theological Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota.
Rolf served his year of internship at Trinity, St. Paul, and Zion Lutheran Churchesİof Lisbon, North Dakota, under the supervision of the Rev. S.L. Almlie. Rolf received his Bachelor of Divinity Degree from Luther Theological Seminary on May 30, 1965.
On June 12, 1965 he was united in marriage with Janice Heggen at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Rothsay, MN.
Rolf was ordained into the Lutheran Ministry on June 20, 1965, at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, Minnesota. >From 1965 to 1969 he served in North Dakota as pastor of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cogswell; Brampton Lutheran Church, Brampton; and Havana Trinity Lutheran Church, Havana. Rolf served as associate pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Ada, Minnesota from 1970 to 1972, and as pastor of Cross of Glory and West Freeborn Lutheran Churches at Hartland, Minnesota from 1972 to 1980. On June 15, 1980, he began his ministry at Immanuel and Wilmington Lutheran Churches in Caledonia. Rolf retired on October 31, 2004.
Rolf Storlie is survived by his wife; two sons, Daniel (Susan), Holmen, WI and Erik (Trupti), Yokosuka, Japan; a daughter Kirsten (Mark) Liberman, Naples, FL; five grandchildren; brothers-in-law andİsisters-in-law; nephews and nieces; cousins; and a host of other family and friends.
Services will be Saturday, July 16, at 11 a.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Bishop April Ulring-Larson, Rev. Elizabeth Stempinski,İand Rev. Norman Omodt will officiate. Burial will be in the Stone Church Cemetery, Houston. Friends may call at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.İand on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers,İthe family requests memorials be given to the Lutheran Stone Church, Houston; Immanuel Lutheran Church Scholarship Fund; or to the Wilmington Lutheran Church.
