Caledonia teen charged with felony bomb scare

Darrell Edward OíBrien, 17, of Caledonia was charged on July 8 in La Crosse District Court with felony bomb scare and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

According to police reports, OíBrien threw a toy grenade out of a car window at Woodmanís grocery story in Onalaska on July 7.

He was arraigned in Winona County on July 8 because there was no judge in Houston County. He waived his extradition to Wisconsin, and was ordered held on a $1,500 cash bond, which he posted.

OíBrien is due back in court at 11 a.m. on July 22 for a preliminary hearing.

Teens arrested for burglaries

Two La Crescent teenagers were charged on July 8 with a series of burglaries in area businesses and a La Crescent church.

Daniel Joseph Hagel and Kyle Thomas Lee, both 17, face charges of second and third degree burglary, theft, and criminal damage to property.

They were turned in by their parents who found suspicious items.
