Patricia Forschler

Patricia ìPatî Ann Forschler, 89, of Brownsville, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, in La Crescent.

She was born April 3, 1916, in Brownsville to William and Florence (Brown) Cororan. She married Arnold (Arnie) Forschler on Dec. 12, 1935, in Brownsville.

Patís passion in life was teaching. She began her teaching career at the age of 17, teaching in all eight grades in a one-room schoolhouse near Brownsville. She also taught grades five through eight in Freeberg and Junior High School in Caledonia. After she retired at the age of 66, she continued to teach adult basic education classes. She tutored students in her home until 2002, helping them overcome reading and learning disabilities. She also helped adult students prepare to earn their graduate equivalency diplomas. She also taught religious education at St. Patrickís Catholic Church in Brownsville.

She is survived by a daughter, Kay Schanus, of New Prague, Minn.; a son, Richard (Kari Brine) Forschler of Minneapolis; six grandchildren; and one sister, Rose Corbett.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnie, on Dec. 11, 1990; one sister, Mariece, two brothers, Leo and Francis; two daughters, Barbara and Mary; and her son-in-law, Dan Schanus.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 22, in St. Patrickís Catholic Church, Brownsville. Rev. Paul Breza will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Patrickís Catholic Church Cemetery, Brownsville.

Friends and family may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Breza Hall in St. Patrick's Catholic Church with a rosary to be held at 7:30 p.m. Friends and family may also call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass in the church Friday.

Memorials are preferred to St. Patrickís Catholic Church.

Blaschke Funeral Homes of La Crosse are assisting the family with arrangements.
