Two bring home the gold from state track meet
Brianna Polus and Travis Steele each came home from the state track meet in Blaine with state titles.
Polus, a senior, broke a state meet record for Class A in the high jump with a leap of 5'9".
In the 100, Steele finished in 11.29. He outran eight others, including Isaac Anderson, who set a meet record in the preliminaries the day before with a 10.94 finish.
As a team, the boys took second place, finishing only three points behind Hermantown, which captured the title with 36 points.
For the boys, Andy Marnach was fourth in the 400 with a time of 50.08. Chris Jandt was fourth in the triple jump at 43'6".
The 400 relay team finished third. Joining Steele and Marnach on the team were Clint Grabhorn and Karl Klug. Their time was 44.02.
For the girls, Amelia Schaller took fourth in the discus with a throw of 122-10. She threw 36-05.5 in the shot, which was 10th place.
The 400 relay team of Polus, Sarah Colleran, Alecia Fruechte, and Molly Furlong finished sixth with a time of 51.35.
The girlsí team came in 10th overall with 22 team points.
