Township election results announced

Here are the results from the 17 Houston County township elections on Tuesday, March 8. The annual township officers meeting will be held on Monday, March 28 at 7 p.m. at the Four Seasons Community Center in Caledonia.

ï In Black Hammer Township, James Solum was elected supervisor with 16 votes. (Incumbent Alden Solum did not file.) Maynard Brevig was re-elected treasurer with 12 votes. Sixteen votes were cast.

ï In Brownsville Township, William Sheehan was re-elected supervisor with 14 votes. Darryl Graf was re-elected treasurer with 15 votes. Sixteen votes were cast.

ï In Caledonia Township election, Kermit McRae was re-elected supervisor with 33 votes. Doris Klankowski was re-elected treasurer with 32 votes. Thirty four votes were cast. At the annual meeting, supervisors voted to raise the levy by $5,000 per year to a total of $135,000.

ï In Crooked Creek Township, Lloyd Lampert was re-elected supervisor with 50 votes. Forest Sauer received 31 votes. David Seymour was re-elected treasurer with 79 of 81 total votes cast.

ï In Hokah Township, Richard Markos was re-elected supervisor with all of the 19 votes cast. Jaynie Sheffer was elected treasurer with 19 votes. Incumbent treasurer Gertrude Wieser did not file.

ï In Houston Township, John Beckman was re-elected supervisor with all of the 21 votes cast. Ray Connery was re-elected treasurer with 21 votes.

ï In Jefferson Township election, James Hammell was re-elected supervisor with 14 votes. Richard Wagner was re-elected treasurer with 13 votes. Fifteen votes were cast.

ï In La Crescent Township Bob Cummings and incumbent Bill Beckman were elected supervisors with 27 and 24 votes respectively. (Incumbent supervisor Roger Fread did not file.) Larry Jankowski was re-elected treasurer with 25 votes. Twenty seven people voted.

ï In Mayville Township, Maynard Welscher was re-elected supervisor with all of the 19 votes cast, as was treasurer Arlyn Pohlman.

ï In Money Creek Township, Richard Torgerson was elected supervisor with 72 votes. Incumbent Phil Niesen received 50 votes and Ron Kronnebusch received three votes. Richard Nelson was re-elected treasurer with 120 votes.

ï In Mound Prairie Township, Lester Beckman Jr. was re-elected supervisor with 33 votes, and Terry Botcher was elected to complete a two year term with 33 votes. Edwin Schmacher was re-elected treasurer with 32 votes. Thirty three votes were cast.

ï In Sheldon Township, Dale Runningen was re-elected supervisor with 20 votes. Allen ìShortyî Betz received 12 write-in votes, and Jill Hahn received seven write-in votes. Colleen Nelson was re-elected treasurer with 37 votes.

ï In Spring Grove Township, Mike Patterson was re-elected with eight votes. The clerk/treasurer is a combined position so no election was held this year.

ï In Union Township, Jerry Frank was re-elected supervisor and Eugene Wilhelm treasurer, each with all of the 10 votes cast.

ï In Wilmington Township, Kenneth Meyer was re-elected with 22 votes. Steve Quinnell received eight votes. There was no treasurer election this year.

ï In Winnebago Township , Dale Horn was re-elected supervisor with 11 votes. Janice Staggemeyer was re-elected treasurer with all of the 12 votes cast.

ï In Yucatan Township, Larry Gaustad was elected with 65 votes. Incumbent Wayne Feldmeier received 53 votes. Tim Amberg was re-elected treasurer with 105 of the 118 total votes cast.
