Winona man charged in Caledonia Subway robbery

A 17-year-old has been charged in the February 15 robbery of the Subway restaurant in Caledonia.

Gary Allen Skaggs of Winona, is charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery in the second degree, and making terroristic threats. Caledonia Police Chief Randy Shefelbine said there is chance that Skaggs will be tried as an adult. He is currently being held at the Many Rivers juvenile detention facility in Rochester.

A second person was questioned in regard to the robbery but was not charged.

At about 9:20 p.m. on Februray 15, a male entered Subway and demanded money. The person showed the clerk a knife and claimed to have a gun. He fled after getting about $300 from the cash register. Two customers were in Subway at the time of the robbery. No one was hurt durng the incident.

The suspect was arrested two days later in Mabel.
