Township elections next Tuesday
Township elections will be held on Tuesday, March 8.There are 17 townships in Houston County. Here is a list of polling places, times, and positions that will be filled for each township.
ï Black Hammer Township election will be held at the Black Hammer Town Hall on County Road 4 about five miles north of Spring Grove, from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and treasurer, two year term. James Solum filed for supervisor. Incumbent Alden Solum did not file. No one filed for treasurer. Maynard Brevig is the incumbent. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m.
ï Brownsville Township election will be held at the Brownsville Town Hall on County Road 24 (the old Davy School), from 2-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent William Sheehan has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Darryl Graf has filed. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15.
ï Caledonia Township election will be from 3-8 p.m. in the basement of Caledonia City Hall. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Kermit McRae has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which Doris Klankowski has filed. The annual meeting will follow.
ï Crooked Creek Township election will be held at the Crooked Creek Town Hall in the old Freeburg School from 2-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Lloyd Lampert and Forest Sauer have filed; treasurer two year term, for which incumbent David Seymour has filed. The annual meeting will be at 8:15 p.m.
ï Hokah Township election will be held at Hokah Elementary School from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Richard Markos has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which Jaymie Sheffer has filed. Incumbent Gertrude Wieser did not file. The annual meeting will follow the counting of the ballots at 8:10.
ï Houston Township election will be 5-8 p.m. at the Houston Town Hall at the corner of Henderson and Highway 16. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent John Beckman has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Ray Connery has filed. The annual meeting will take place at 8:15 p.m.
ï Jefferson Township election will be held at Jefferson Town Hall on County Road 5 about four miles west of New Albin from 4-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and treasurer, two year term. No one has filed for either office. James Hammell is the incumbent supervisor, and Richard Wagner is the incumbent treasurer. The annual meeting starts at 3 p.m.
ï La Crescent Township will be from 1-8 p.m. at the La Crescent Town Hall in the La Crescent Community Fire Building. The following offices are up for election: two supervisors, three year terms, for which Bob Cummings and incumbent Bill Beckman have filed. Incumbent Roger Fread did not file. For treasurer, two year term, incumbent Larry Jankowski filed. The annual meeting is at 8:15 p.m.
ï Mayville Township election will be held at the Mayville Town Hall on the Houston County Fairgrounds in Caledonia from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Maynard Welscher has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Arlyn Pohlman has filed. The annual meeting is at 8 p.m.
ï Money Creek Township election will be held at the Money Creek Town Hall from 3:30 - 8 p.m. One supervisor, three year term, is up for election, for which three people have filed: Ron Kronebusch, incumbent Phil Niesen, and Richard Torgerson. For treasurer, two year term, incumbent Richard Nelson has filed. The annual meeting is at 2 p.m.
ï Mound Prairie Township election will be held at the Mound Prairie Town Hall, 9749 Highway 21, from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Lester Beckman Jr. has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Edwin Schumacher has filed. The annual meeting will be at 4 p.m.
ï Sheldon Township election will be from 4-8 p.m. at the Sheldon Town Hall in Sheldon. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Dale Runningen has filed; treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Colleen Nelson has filed. The annual meeting will take place at 3 p.m.
ï Spring Grove Township election will be held at the Spring Grove Town Hall from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which Mike Patterson is the incumbent and has filed. The clerk/treasurer is a combined position so no election will be held this year. The annual meeting will take place at 8:10.
ï Union Township election will be held at the Union Town Hall on Highway 44 five miles southwest of Hokah from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, and treasurer, two year term. No one has filed for either office. Jerry Frank is the incumbent supervisor; Eugene Wilhelm is the incumbent treasurer. The annual meeting will take place at 4 p.m.
ï Wilmington Township election will be held at the Wilmington Town Hall, 14753 County Road 17, from 2:45-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Kenneth Meyer and Steve Quinnell have filed. The annual meeting is at 2 p.m.
ï Winnebago Township election will be held at the Eitzen Fire Station meeting from from 5-8 p.m. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Dale Horn has filed. Treasurer Janice Staggemeyer has also filed for reelection. Business meeting will be at 8 p.m.
ï Yucatan Township election will be held from 3-8 p.m. at the Yucatan Town Hall, 10155 County Road 4, Houston. The following offices are up for election: supervisor, three year term, for which incumbent Wayne Feldmeier and Larry Gaustad have filed; treasurer, two year term, for which incumbent Tim Amberg has filed. The annual meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m.
