Winifred J. Gaspard
Winifred J. Gaspard, 87, of Caledonia, died Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at Caledonia Care and Rehab in Caledonia.
She was born July 22, 1917 in Caledonia to Malachy and Mary (Krieg) Ryan. She graduated from Loretto High School in 1934, and she attended Business College in Minneapolis. Winifred married Orville Frank Gaspard July 19, 1939 at St. Peterís Catholic Church, Caledonia He preceded her in death December 29, 1982. She worked as a bookkeeper for George Lohf Electric and later for Gaspard Electric. She was also a clerk and bookkeeper at Rice Pharmacy for 25 years.
Winifred was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Maryís Church and its Council of Catholic Women. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, bird watching, and gardening.
She is survived by five children: Kathryn of Milwaukee, Ann Schmitt of Ames, Iowa, John of Caledonia, Joe (Cindy) of LaCrosse, and Mary (Steve) Buttell of Caledonia; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Armella Constans and Henrietta Ryan; and a son in law, Ted Schmitt.
Services will be Thursday, March 24, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Maryís Catholic Church, Caledonia. Father Gregory Leif will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Caledonia. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at McCormick Funeral Home, Caledonia, where a Catholic Daughter rosary will be said at 4:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday. Memorials may be given to St. Maryís Church.
