Alleged Subway robber certified as an adult
The juvenile charged with the robbery of Subway restaurant in Caledonia was committed to the Houston County Jail on April 29.
Gary Allen Skaggs,17, Winona, is charged with aggravated robbery and making terroristic threats in the February 15 incident. He allegedly fled with about $300 after displaying a knife to an employee. No one was hurt.
Judge James Fabian ordered certification for trial of Skaggs as an adult at the Third District Court hearing.
Skaggs represents a danger to public safety if kept in the juvenile system, Fabian ruled. The judge set bail at $50,000.
Skaggsí next court appearance has not been set.
George found in contempt
In another court matter, Rickey George of Violet Hills, Arkansas, was found in contempt of court on May 2 for being uncooperative. Judge Fabian sentenced him to serve 10 days in jail. George was in court for violating a harassment restraining order. He faces numerous charges in Houston County, including making terroristic threats, harassment stalking, obscene or harassing phone calls, disorderly conduct, driving without a valid Minnesota license, and fifth degree assault.
Assault charges filed
Tim Palubicki, 37, La Crescent, was charged on May 4 with third degree assault, a felony, and fifth degree assault, a gross misdemeanor.
Palubicki allegedly pushed a woman down at her home in La Crescent at about 2:30 that morning and broke her collerbone. He accused the woman of telling his probation officer that he had been consuming illegal drugs, the report states.
Palubicki claimed he was only ěhuggingî the woman and that she fell. He is out on $10,000 bail. His next court appearance is May 16 at 10 a.m.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, where she was treated and released for facial bruises and a broken collarbone.
