Helen A. Wohlers
Helen A. Wohlers, 91, formerly of Brownsville, Minn., died Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at La Crescent Health Care Center.
She was born October 6, 1913 in Crooked Creek Township, to John and Lorena (Roth) Goetzinger. On February 17, 1931 Helen married Ervin Wohlers at Peace United Church of Christ, Crooked Creek. They farmed on German Ridge (rural Hokah) until 1947 when they moved to Brownsville. Helen was employed at JC Penney in La Crosse for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. On December 31, 1984, Ervin preceded Helen in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Lorene (Mel) Miller of Brownsville; one son, Gary (Linda) Wohlers of Cedarville, IL; one daughter-in-law, Lillian Wohlers of Houston; ten grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack (Betty) Goetzinger of Loveland, CO; one sister-in-law, Margaret Goetzinger of Caledonia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addtion to her husband, Helen was preceded in death byŻa son, Duane Wohlers;Ża granddaughter, Loren Beesler;Ża grandson, David Wohlers; and four brothers, Alvin, Alton, Arnold, and Omar.
Memorial services will be Monday, May 2, at 11 a.m. from Zion Evangelical Church, Brownsville. Rev. Brian Cuda will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Zion Evangelical Church on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
