Evening parade for Founders Day

An evening parade will make its debut at this yearís Founders Day celebration in Caledonia June 16-18.

The lighted parade will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 18.

It will be the first year for an evening parade at Founders Day, although they are the norm at Caledoniaís Christmas parade in December.

An evening parade occurred to coordinator Jane Schiltz after she heard that Honda Goldwing Regional Rally would be occurring in Caledonia that day. Some Goldwing members said they like to do a lighted parade, so it was a good fit, Schiltz said.

Schiltz expects between 100 and 200 Goldwing motorcycles at the end of the regular Founders Day units.

Anyone with a motorcycle, Goldwing or otherwise, can enter, Schiltz added. ìThe more the merrier,î she said.

Dewey and Judy St. Mary are the parade marshals.

Schiltz said she has some nice parade units lined up, with good local sponsorship. Call her at 725-2002 for more parade information.
