Arrests pending in burglaries
A coordinated investigation spearheaded by Captain Gary Eddy of the Houston County Sheriff Department along with the Rushford Police Department led to the arrest of two males, one eighteen the other seventeen from Rushford.
These arrests were made in conjunction with several residential burglaries in Winona and Houston Counties. Suspects would stop at a residence during daytime hours if it appeared unoccupied. They would then knock on the door, if there was no answer they would enter. Otherwise they would ask for information and leave.
During interviews they admitted entering several residences and leaving without taking anything. Items recovered include a 9mm handgun, a pellet gun, knives, computers and cameras. Investigators have also impounded a vehicle. Subjects were released pending further investigation and formal charges.
Chief Deputy Ken Frank said that the investigation is done, and investigators were finishing up reports on May 2. Frank said charges could be filed by the end of this week.
A search warrant also needs to be done on the vehicle, Frank added.
The 18-year-old is in the Red Wing juvenile detention facility, after being arrested on April 29 by Winona County authorities on probation violation. The juvenile was to have been picked up on May 2 on probation violation as well, Frank said.
