Art Nelson
Arthur N. Nelson, 81, Moorhead, MN, died on Friday, May 6, 2005, in MeritCare Hospital, Fargo, ND.
Arthur was born on December 10, 1923, in Ayre, ND, to Oscar and Ida (Hovland) Nelson. He graduated from High School in Borup, MN, in 1943. He worked as a farm hand before entering the service in 1945. Art served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. He was discharged in November of 1946 and returned to Moorhead.
Art married Helen Ronsberg on June 18, 1949, in Gran Lutheran Church in Skree Township, Clay County, MN. They made their home in Moorhead. Art retired in 1995.
Art was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, where he served as an usher for many years.
Art is survived by his wife, Helen; one son, David (Mary) Nelson, Breckenridge, MN; three daughters, Sharon (Chuck) Schulte, Caledonia, Julie (Scott) Johnson, Woodbury, MN, and Diane (Richard) Weniger, Blaine, MN; two brothers, Lloyd (Dorothy) Nelson, Moorhead, MN, and Oscar (Grace) Nelson, Moorhead, MN; two sisters, Nora Nelson, Moorhead, MN, and Pernell Jones, Valdosta, GA; and twelve grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; twin brother, Norman; and sisters, Alice Erickson and Lorraine Potratz.
Visitation was held Sunday, May 8, 2005, from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., in Wright Funeral Home, Moorhead.
Funeral services were Monday, May 9, 2005, at 2 p.m., in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moorhead.
Interment was in Zion Cemetery, Skree Township, Clay County.
