Travis Vick
Travis M. Vick, 32, of Caledonia, passed away in the arms of his family on Saturday, November 12, 2005 at his home after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrigís Disease).
He was born March 16, 1973, in Caledonia, to Roger and Darlene (Nesteby) Vick. Travis graduated from Caledonia High School in 1991 and then attended two years at Northeast Iowa Technical College in Calmar. On March 20, 2004 he married Stacy Klug at the Waterloo Ridge Lutheran Church in Dorchester, Iowa. Travis was an avid sportsman andİoutdoor enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife Stacy of Caledonia; two sons, Trever and Tysen and two step-sons, Hunter and Brayden Hauser, all of Caledonia; his mother, Darlene (Gerald) Schwartzhoff of Dorchester, Iowa; his father, Roger (Randi) Vick of Caledonia; two brothers, Brian (Jackie) Vick of Spring Grove, and Tim (DeeDee) Vick of Caledonia; paternal grandmother, Mildred Vick of Decorah, IA; step-sisters and step-brothers, Robin (Shawn) Bartell of Hesper, IA, Dawn Schuttemeier of Caledonia, Mike (Michelle) Schwartzhoff of Decorah, IA, Greg Schwartzhoff of Dorchester, IA, Michele (Steven) Pladsen of Harpers Ferry, IA, Kimberly Carpenter of St. Charles, MN, Kerri (Scott) Johanningmeier of Decorah, IA, and Mary (Matt) Driscoll of Cedar Falls, IA; and a niece and two nephews, several aunts, uncles, cousins, and step-nieces and step-nephews.
Travis was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Hazel Nesteby; paternal grandfather, Norman Vick; beloved friend and brother-in-law, Jason Carpenter; and father-in-law, William Bjorge.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 16, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Caledonia. Rev. Steven E. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Waterloo Ridge Cemetery, Dorchester, Iowa. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Haugen-Roble-Jandt Funeral Home, Caledonia, is in charge of arrangements.
