Seaman longs for home

To the Editor:

Not so long ago
I left home, as just the average joe
Awaiting return
To the ones I love so

To see the faces
To see the smiles
That I have missed
All this while

The time that weíll spend
What a party to be,
The memories forever
Iíll take to the sea

The journey has begun
For this young Army manís son
To travel the world
Sure ought to be fun

My destination unknown
The waters unclear
Thereís many obstacles
And dangers Iíll fear

But this young Sailor will strive
To keep himself alive
For his family and friends
To share in my pride

For when the journey is done
For my Motherís oldest son
The destination once unknown
Will have always been

Right here,
Right here at home.
